Audience reviews

Sting’s first song received cheers of applause from the crowd. To add to his set, Sting invited reggae star Shaggy to assist on “Englishman in New York.” Fans expected Joel to return for this track; instead, Shaggy took center stage.

Joel demonstrated incredible voice control throughout the show, including impressive renditions of Roxanne, “Message in a Bottle,” and “So Lonely.” Additionally, his piano skills were incredible.

Billy Joel Meets Sting was met with high enthusiasm from audiences throughout Durban. The Durban performers comprising its cast have always left audiences stunned by their skill and effortless rapport with them; these include singer/ukulele player John Ellis (also playing keyboardist Evan Cullum and multi-instrumentalist Andy Turrell).
