Foster played an instrumental role in producing many hit songs of the 1990s, such as Celine Dion’s first number one single “The Power of Love” and Natalie Cole’s album Unforgettable. Additionally, he served as producer on the soundtrack of The Bodyguard film.

He has produced albums for The Tubes, including their 1981 and 1983 releases The Completion of the Backward Principle and Outside Inside respectively. Additionally, he co-wrote their 1980 hit song “Talk to Ya Later” alongside singer Fee Waybill and Toto member Steve Lukather.
In 2012, he took on the chairmanship of Verve Music Group where he signed established singers as well as international newcomers. Additionally, he has composed songs for films like Urban Cowboy and One Good Cop while creating an orchestral version of Canada’s national anthem for its Olympic athletes. Furthermore, in addition to his musical career he has made appearances on many television programs like American Idol and Nashville Star.
