History
Geological in nature, Red Rocks Amphitheatre has long been a meeting point for dinosaurs, ancient tribesmen, settlers and modern music fans alike. Beginning in 1906 with John Brisben Walker inviting musicians to perform on temporary platforms nestled between Ship Rock and Creation Rock (originally Garden of Angels but later changed to Garden of Titans), John eventually started inviting musicians from across the United States as the Garden of Titans was transformed over years via Civilian Conservation Corps work, Works Project Administration services and Denver architect Burnham Hoyt’s design into what we now know as Red Rocks Amphitheatre today.
Since 1971, legendary artists like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Jethro Tull (whose 1971 concert caused a seven-year ban on rock music until 1976). Widespread Panic continues to sell out shows at this iconic venue year after year.
Getting There
Red Rocks Amphitheatre can accommodate over 9,000 fans in its expansive, specially-shaped seating area, making attending concerts at Red Rocks an enjoyable experience. Front row tickets provide excellent views while those sitting further back may take in breathtaking panoramas of natural landscapes that surround Red Rocks.
Arriving early for popular shows is always advised; parking lots typically open two hours prior to showtime and fill quickly. Remember, parking is usually included with your ticket price so make sure to verify this beforehand!
Enter from the bus lot (dotted line on map above) by walking up Trading Post Road past the trading post until you reach a large staircase at its base – this entrance is the easiest and fastest!

Red Rocks seats have an incline that helps with drainage, so rain rarely interferes with concerts at this venue. But if thunderstorms are predicted for your concert date, bring along an umbrella or raincoat as a precautionary measure – dressing in layers and including a blanket is also advised for added warmth.
The venue’s website warns visitors that shows at this outdoor venue will often occur in all forms of Colorado weather – sun, strong wind and severe rain or snow are likely. But even an unpredictable day shouldn’t stop music fans from enjoying a performance at this stunning outdoor venue just west of Denver! In cases where unsafe conditions threaten safety issues, staff at this outdoor venue may delay or postpone an event based on safety considerations.
Parking

Parking is included with your ticket purchase, with lots opening about two hours before doors open at popular shows. Arriving early gives you the best chance at securing a spot, avoiding traffic congestion and enjoying pre-show excitement.
Carpooling or ridesharing is another eco-friendly and efficient solution, helping reduce traffic. However, note that vehicles must remain parked until 10:00 AM the morning following a show.
