ENHYPEN’s name, an amalgamation of an en dash and hyphen, stands for seven separate boys coming together to discover and advance one another – something which their music conveys powerfully. Over one full record and four mini-albums, ENHYPEN tells multidimensional transformative tales as they chart trainees’ transitions to top idol status; their ingenue status becomes agents of their own destinies as they develop from trainees into agents themselves. Perhaps ENHYPEN’s most striking quality lies within their artwork when they refer to mythical creatures such as vampires dragons and zombies which feature prominently throughout both music videos as well as webtoon Dark Moon: The Blood Altar.
ENHYPEN has had an extraordinary year, including making history by becoming the first K-pop group ever with double million-seller albums and landing a place on Billboard’s 2023 K-Pop Stars to Watch list. Now they aim even higher: international touring this year to demonstrate what they can do live. At a recent stadium show in Los Angeles, the band‘s Filipino ENGENEs (fans) sang back every word with confidence, waving colorful Engene bong lightsticks and banners bearing their names as band members walked between aisles to connect with them directly. It was an electric atmosphere; and the band fed off it.
As the show went on, energy in the arena continued to build as ENHYPEN performed hits from their debut extended play BORDER: DAY ONE, first studio album Dimension: Answer and fourth mini-album Orange Blood. Their infectious energy was an impressive sight onstage; but what really set this performance apart was the amazing stage production featuring large LED screens, striking VCRs, pyrotechnics and an assortment of stage gimmicks to emphasize each song’s soundscape.
As a special treat, the band added some dance moves from their forthcoming song Love Me Right. This energetic track promises to become a summer anthem while its lush production brings to life beautiful dancing moves that you will want to learn yourself – and these talented boys were masterful at keeping the pace alive while masterfully performing them!
