Illenium Shares His Struggles Through Letter to the Fam and Latest Single, “Take You Down”

Illenium ‘Take You Down’

It can happen to anyone. Gender, race, social class.

America from coast to coast has been plagued by the opioid crisis. In 2016 alone, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention( CDC) determined more than 64,000 people died from drug overdoses. Many of us, including myself, have seen friends tragically pass away and families forever changed. It has become a national emergency for all of us to be aware of.

In a note to the fam, superstar DJ Illenium revealed his own personal battles with addiction.

Illenium, who’s real name is Nicholas Miller, conveyed his long battle with opiate addiction that eventually caused him to overdose on Heroin. In the message, the 27 -year old describes dark times in his life for him and his family as he toiled with the disease. The hope that so many go across seemed all but lost.

Miller credits music and his mother for saving his life, both of which have helped him stay clean to this very day. Further, the heartfelt message is the inspiration behind his song” Take You Down “. Read his letter to the fam below.

“Take You Down” originally debuted at the Global Dance Festival in Denver in July.

It’s official release, which coincided with Illenium’s personal story, occurred on August 3rd. The song’s melody is powerful, with an uplifting tone seemingly designed for anyone going through a similar crisis. In addition, the high pitch vocals actually come from Illenium’s friend Tim James. For anyone going through the struggle, the track should come as a reminder that love, hope, and help always exists. It is never too late to change your life around, as Illenium once did.

Lance Bass (almost) bought the Brady Bunch house. Yes, the NSYNC guy.

UPDATE Aug. 5, 2018, 10:11 a.m. ET

It’s not happening, folks.

Although Lance Bass informed the world on Saturday that his offer to purchase the Brady Bunch house had been “accepted,” he followed up that announcement with a statement overnight making it clear that he had spoken too soon. The home isn’t his. In fact, he’s getting the feeling now that he might have been nothing more than a pawn in a bid to drive up the house’s value.

” The next day, due to’ unforeseen circumstances,’ the same agent informed us that there’s another Corporate Buyer( Hollywood studio) who are interested the house at any cost ,” he wrote.” We were prepared to go even higher but[ were] entirely discouraged by the marketers[ sic] agent,[ who said] they will outperform any bid with unlimited resources .” Read more …

Mike Shinoda to headline fall 2018 North American Monster Energy Outbreak Tour

Featured image

Mike Shinoda has been tapped as the headliner of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour this fall, marking his first full-scale solo trek of North America.

The vocalist and multi-instrumentalist released his first solo album, Post Traumatic, in June. The tour announcement comes a little more than a year after Shinoda’s Linkin Park bandmate Chester Bennington took his own life.

Along with performing, Shinoda will present art pieces that he created while making Post Traumatic at each stop on the tour.

“Listening to a recorded song is not the same as experiencing that song live on stage,” explained Shinoda in a press release. “Similarly, seeing a painting in an album or book is not the same as seeing the original, in person. In sharing a live experience with you, my hope is to inspire questions, answers, and reflection — not only about my story, but about your own. The search for meaning is boundless, and art is often one of our best vehicles.”

The trek kicks off October 10th in Montreal, Canada, and wraps November 17th in Silver Spring, Michigan. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the public this Friday, with various pre-sales beginning tomorrow. More information and ticket links can be found at the official Monster Energy Outbreak Tour page.

Chainsmokers Bring Millennials to Final Atlantic City Beach Concert, Officials Hope to Continue Live Nation Partnership

The Chainsmokers brought thousands of people to the Atlantic City beach on Sunday afternoon, which marked the last of six concerts produced by Live Nation in what was a three-year, $6 million deal with the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA).

The 4:15 pm Sunday afternoon show was to culminate a star-packed concert weekend in Atlantic City, but after Demi Lovato’s Friday show was canceled due to the singer’s apparent overdose last week, The Chainsmokers were the biggest headliners in town.

Live Nation booked Cheat Codes, an electronic music DJ trio, in Lovato’s place, and made the concert a free event. Demi ticketholders were able to receive refunds or attend The Chainsmokers concert.

With perfect weather, the beach was packed on Sunday. Attendance estimates have not yet been released, but the show seemed to satisfy Live Nation’s contract with the CRDA that requires the concert organizer to book acts that draw 30,000 or more people.

Millennial Impact

Chainsmokers Tickets

The Chainsmokers attracted a demographic long-sought by Atlantic City casinos: the millennial.

Numerous studies have shown that the 18- to 34-year-old doesn’t enjoy slot machines nearly as much as their parents and grandparents. A report from YouGov, a research firm in London, said recently that nearly one in two millennials even find casinos depressing.

“Everyone seems really positive about that,” Live Nation Philadelphia President Geoff Gordon told the Press of Atlantic City about the show bringing in younger people. The millennials might not necessarily be rushing to the slot machines after the concert, but they spent money on food and beverages, lodging, and other entertainment.

“We’re looking at a longer-term promotion of the city as a resort and as a destination,” CRDA Executive Director Matt Doherty explained. “It’s an attempt to expand the market of people who come to Atlantic City with a non-gaming event. The more people that come, the more revenue generated.”

Continuing Partnership

With the openings of Hard Rock and Ocean Resort, Atlantic City needs more visitors, and lots of them, to support being a nine-casino town. With commercial casinos now in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York, the necessity for east coasters to travel to New Jersey’s gambling hub to spin a slot machine are no longer.

Hard Rock and Ocean Resort are betting on entertainment and experiences as catalysts to return visitation to numbers experienced in decades prior.

The rock ‘n’ themed casino plans to host live entertainment nightly, and opened with A-listers Carrie Underwood and Pitbull. Ocean Resort welcomed celebrities Mark Wahlberg and Jamie Foxx during its debut festivities and hopes its Topgolf Swing Suite lounge, as well as its smoker-friendly casino area, will be enough to keep the resort busy.

The CRDA, the state agency tasked with investing in projects that benefit the city’s economy and development, says it hopes the summer beach concert series continues next year.

“I believe it will go forward,” Doherty stated. “There may be some alterations to the concerts … but I think it’s a beneficial relationship to advancing tourism in Atlantic City.”
