Billy Joel and Sting Kick Off Their Co-Headlining Tour

Sting wowed Raymond James Stadium for one evening only under a shimmering moon, offering up an 83-minute, 16-song opening set that was an expert lesson in how to balance music and melody.

He kicked off the evening with The Police’s 1981 track “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, before bringing Sting back for duet performances of Billy Joel’s Big Man on Mulberry Street later in the show.

1. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Sting opened his first of two co-headlining shows Saturday at RayJay Stadium with gusto, showing his legendary status through everything from impressive bass skills to contemporary renditions of iconic songs like “Shape of My Heart,” interspersed with Juice WRLD’s “Lucid Dreams” chorus – creating an entertaining yet legendary experience for his audience.

Joel may no longer possess the mighty wail he once did, but he was more than ready to perform some of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s hits – such as “King of Pain,” “Fields of Gold” and the timeless “New York State of Mind.” When these two musicians joined forces on “Brand New Day” their collaboration was nothing short of amazing as fans captured footage and shared it online.

2. Big Man On Mulberry Street

Under a sparkling full moon and to a cheering audience, The Piano Man and former Police lead singer Sting kicked off their inaugural co-headlining shows in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. Trading off between solo hits and collaborations between sets, these two rock-and-roll Hall-of-Famers traded off between solo sets as well as special collaborations.

Sting looked the part as Frank Sinatra for his jazzy set opener, featuring Joel on chorus singing duties. They also collaborated for “Big Man on Mulberry Street,” an allusion to an average person trying to think they’re big shot walking around Little Italy in New York and fantasizing that he’s big shot; both musicians had great feel for its assertive melody as they danced their duet through similar moves as Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse did in “Singing in the Rain.” Definitely an unlikely duet.

3. New York State Of Mind

Billy Joel surprised fans when he debuted “Turn the Lights Back On,” an unexpected track from his latest album. This track celebrates New York, with each reference cheered along by enthusiastic audiences.

Sting remained for the entire concert, joining Joel to perform their duet of Big Man on Mulberry Street as seen on fan videos. Sting was in good voice and seemed to enjoy himself immensely during their duet of Big Man on Mulberry Street.

Joel often performs this song to honor New York, making it a staple in his concerts. It even made its way onto the agenda at The Concert for New York City held after 9/11 to benefit its fire and police departments as well as first responders.

4. The Longest Time

Sting kept his set lively by occasionally joining Joel onstage to help sing some of his hits, like The Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” with piano accompaniment from Joel or adding an unexpected flourish to “Piano Man.”

Sting brought new energy and spirit to classic songs such as “Roxanne,” “Message in a Bottle,” and “Fields of Gold,” modifying their keys, time signatures and arrangements in ways that heightened and extended them. He also slowed down songs such as Desert Rose in order to let its Arabic feel speak for itself.

These two Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famers have several joint shows scheduled this summer, including dates in San Diego, St. Louis, Las Vegas and Joel’s final Madison Square Garden residency show slated for July.

5. The Entertainer

Sting and Piano Man brought New York into Tampa on Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium. While both artists had previously shared stages together, this marked their inaugural co-headlining appearance together.

Sting was truly captivating, infusing new life into fan favorites such as “Message in a Bottle,” “Brand New Day” and Fields of Gold, while giving songs such as Desert Rose time to breathe.

He called on reggae-fusion star Shaggy to assist him with singing the second verse of Englishman in New York, though many fans expected Joel himself to join them for an encore of Roxanne instead he performed a different version which gave him more room to stretch. Fans loved it!

The Benefits of Music

Music is one of the core expressions that unites all human cultures. From singing alphabet songs with infants to rock anthems that celebrate teen independence, music encapsulates our shared spirit both individually and communally.

One study involved participants being asked to memorize images, letters, and numbers while listening to rock or classical music. When playing music was playing they remembered more information faster because music creates a consistent sound environment for your brain to easily distinguish between different sounds.

Studies have also demonstrated how listening to music can assist us in making more prosocial decisions. When listening to songs with positive lyrics, your brain becomes more likely to associate those lyrics with giving or helping others – this occurs due to familiar music triggering its reward centers as well as lyrics’ positivity stimulating your reward centers.

It Makes You Feel

Music can have a dramatic effect on how we feel, whether it’s high-energy rock anthem or soothing acoustic performance. Music has the ability to trigger feelings of euphoria and happiness or cause sadness or anger; boost athletic performance, increase motivation and even help jog memories; calm anxiety and improve sleep quality while relieving stress and lowering blood pressure.

Learning music can have numerous positive benefits for mental health and self-esteem. Mastering songs can also bring immense satisfaction from having achieved your goal! There’s nothing quite as fulfilling as setting a goal, working towards it, and eventually succeeding!

Listening to calming or soothing music can help alleviate stress by relaxing breathing and heart rate, and decreasing levels of cortisol hormone. This can prevent chronic stress that has detrimental effects on both body and immune system health.

It’s Relatable

Musical arts provide an expressive outlet for human emotions that can be understood in multiple ways. Music connects us across cultures and can even convey more emotion than verbal communication alone.

Music differs from noise in that it contains pitch (whether high or low), rhythm and harmony; although animals such as songbirds and monkeys also create music, most music-makers today are human beings.

CTRL reignited an era of unapologetic, emotive R&B music with lyrics that speak about relatable everyday experiences – something everyone can relate to – through unapologetic emotive and relatable songs that make an impactful statement about life itself. Artists using CTRL as their medium have found powerful outlets to express themselves creatively while speaking truth to power through relatable songs about everyday experiences that everyone can relate to; many artists using lyrics from CTRL as vehicles to do just this. When combined with beats of R&B music they take on powerful meaning that make their statements come alive – creating powerful statements of truth that resonate with their fans through lyrics that speak directly about everyday experiences that all can appreciate.

How to Save Money on Concert Tickets

Music can help reduce stress and boost mood, so attending concerts can be extremely therapeutic for your mental wellbeing. Attending is also an invaluable opportunity to meet like-minded people – maybe you’ll even make new friends who share your taste in music.

Concerts can also be an ideal opportunity to discover new bands and musicians; many bands feature opening acts that perform before their main artist.

They are a great way to see your favorite musicians

Concert tickets can be an amazing source of emotional fulfillment, giving your spirits an immediate lift and lasting positive mood boost that may last for days afterward. While concert tickets may be costly, there are ways you can save money. Searching new bands or using apps to locate concerts nearby are great strategies to find affordable shows without breaking the bank.

Concerts offer an amazing way to experience live performances by your favorite musicians while supporting emerging artists. Whether it be an intimate gig at a local venue or large arena show, concerts provide the chance for fans to see them perform live while also supporting up-and-coming talent.

Concerts can provide more than just mood boosting – they’re also great exercise and networking opportunities! According to studies, music has been shown to reduce blood pressure and improve breathing when heard in groups – something concerts facilitate by creating communities of like-minded music enthusiasts who all share similar interests.

They are a great way to discover new music

Discovering new music can be daunting, but concerts provide an ideal platform for discovering the music you like. Concerts provide the chance to discover genres, artists, or bands you might otherwise never encounter; using playlists or online resources may aid this discovery process; alternatively you could attempt systematic exploration by working through one artist’s discography step by step.

If you’re feeling lost about how to begin attending concerts, try attending one with an opening act that you might have never heard before but are guaranteed an entertaining performance. In addition, attend a pre-concert talk, often free and featuring experts in various fields who will help connect the music onstage with what you are hearing; answer any queries regarding said music; and leave feeling invigorated and eager for more from each artist performing!

They are a great way to get out and socialize

Concerts offer the ideal way to connect and socialize with like-minded music fans in a safe setting. Their energy can’t be rivaled, often producing an overwhelming sense of audience unity. Some bands also play theatrical forms of music which involve acting and costume elements.

By attending local shows, you may be able to meet new people by discussing music or even meeting its members directly. Plus, exchanging contact details may lead to even more encounters later on!

Concert etiquette remains a hotly debated subject among fans, but Mitchell believes it all comes back down to two fundamental tenets of good manners: respect and consideration. If someone else is negatively impacting your experience at a show – particularly if their behavior poses any safety threats – don’t hesitate to speak up! This could save the concert from encounters which might turn heated, such as moshing, dancing and sitting on chairs!

They are a great way to support your favorite artists

Concerts offer more than just music – they are social events too! Many people enjoy sharing the concert experience with family or friends, while purchasing multiple tickets can reduce ticket costs significantly if you plan to see a favorite artist perform multiple times throughout the year.

As streaming platforms and album sales decline, musicians are turning more and more towards live performances as a way of making revenue. This type of support can provide much-needed revenue than prize shows; which may increase exposure but won’t actually pay the artists directly.

Attending concerts is a wonderful way to support your favorite artists, and it is crucial to observe proper concert etiquette. Being courteous to others around you if in an intimate auditorium is especially crucial – for instance refraining from applauding or cheering during performances that block your view, and not wearing high heels or sandals which could prove uncomfortable.

How the UFC Has Become a Global Sports Powerhouse

Within a short span, the UFC has quickly evolved from an obscure mixed martial arts promotion into one of the premier sports organizations worldwide. Its rapid expansion has aroused tremendous interest among athletes for training programs designed to boost cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility.

White’s boisterous and provocative personality perfectly matches up with an exciting sport in which men or women fight each other in cages, making him a fan favorite.

It is a global phenomenon

The UFC’s remarkable journey from no-holds-barred underground fighting to global sports powerhouse is testament to their dedication and pursuit of innovation and new opportunities. They have expanded revenue streams through strategic partnerships, international expansion, lucrative media deals, as well as shifting away from controversial early days by adopting holistic fitness approaches in their fights and training regime.

UFC has taken advantage of the larger-than-life personalities of its athletes to draw in an audience from all backgrounds. Athletes such as Royce Gracie, Georges St-Pierre and Conor McGregor have become household names over time, helping push UFC to new heights.

UFC revenue streams include live events, pay-per-view broadcasts and sponsorships. The company has invested in digital platforms to create a global streaming service accessible by fans across all timezones. Furthermore, social media plays an active role for UFC, where fans and fighters from around the globe connect via an active community that spans over 300 nations – thanks to UFC’s dedication to global expansion while investing in local talent development, establishing itself as an international brand.

It has a diverse roster of fighters

UFC (Universal Fighting Championship) is a mixed martial arts competition featuring fighters of various backgrounds fighting inside a cage to win championship titles. Fights may use punches, kicks or wrestling techniques against their opponent with the goal being either to knock them out or make them submit. Events hosted by UFC can be watched around the globe and provide an excellent way to show support for your favorite fighters.

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is a reality competition series featuring mixed martial artists competing in an elimination tournament to win the UFC Championship. The inaugural season was an overwhelming success and cemented UFC into mainstream consciousness; many TUF winners have gone on to compete for titles and win championships since.

MMA fighting style is among the most varied in sport, drawing inspiration from multiple martial arts disciplines. UFC also incorporates technology and innovation to improve fan experiences; recently they announced an option for viewing live events via virtual reality headset.

It has a positive societal impact

UFC makes an impactful societal statement through its diverse roster of fighters representing many cultures and backgrounds, its charitable initiatives and community outreach programs that support inclusivity within sports, and encouraging participation in Mixed Martial Arts training to improve cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility and overall fitness levels.

Max Holloway, for one, has called upon other fighters to use social media platforms and reach to raise awareness about climate change. The company also has a charitable arm dedicated to climate change mitigation efforts and other global issues.

The company has experienced rapid geographical expansion as they host events around the globe and host international television deals which provide a gateway into sponsorship revenue growth. Furthermore, this expansion has seen them establish themselves as leaders within the MMA industry.

It is evolving

UFC events have long been known for their cutting-edge production techniques and use of cutting-edge production techniques, as well as using technology to connect with fans and elevate its brand. Furthermore, the organization has introduced exciting new rules and formats which make the sport even more thrilling, expanding its global reach with fighters such as Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes.

Future events at UFC could involve collaborations with other combat sports organizations to produce more spectacular events, providing its athletes with opportunities to compete alongside top fighters from various fighting disciplines – blurring the distinctions between mixed martial arts and other combat disciplines.

Although UFC remains increasingly popular, the organization still faces several hurdles. One such barrier is athletes not being considered employees who would therefore receive benefits like health insurance and retirement plans; this has proven problematic for the industry as a whole. Furthermore, fighters aren’t permitted to negotiate directly with executives – prompting several newcomers such as upstart MMA promoters to try to take a bite out of its market share.

Monster Jam – Pit Parties, Behind-The-Scenes Activities, and More

Tickets to Pit Parties offer exclusive competition previews, backstage activities and pre-show entertainment, in addition to admittance for two hours of show entertainment.

People may believe Monster Jam has transformed from its motorsport roots into an entertainment event, but Dalsing believes this to be false.

Racing

Monster Jam drivers compete to race over ramps and junked cars on a dirt track, scoring points based on how well their fans assess them on a mobile app. Their ultimate aim is to cross the finish line first!

Before an event, crews use various types of dirt to build a course, only for it to be torn down at nightfall and rebuilt on day two – making a stadium event require five full days for construction and dismantlement alone!

Drivers of Monster Jam vehicles aren’t immune from injury either; they use protective suits and harnesses for extra neck and back support when jumping or flying over obstacles. Brianna Mahon of Whiplash driving fame says she finds Monster Jam more welcoming to women than competing in Motocross as she learns to navigate its 83 pounds of metal and tires around its track. Mahon also appreciates its industry being far less male dominated compared to competing on two wheels before joining Monster Jam.

Two-Wheel Skills

Drivers of these trucks occupy steel frames with safety cages to encase themselves for maximum protection, while being powered by 1,500 horsepower V-8 engines fed methanol fuel from special tanks at three gallon per minute.

Monster Jam events also include two-wheel skills competitions known as Great Clips Skills Challenge in stadium shows as of late 2017. Held immediately following racing but before freestyle, trucks may choose from performing cyclones, donuts or stoppies in this two-wheel skills contest.

Simply phenomenal is witnessing a Monster Jam truck perform an astonishing backflip! Only a select few drivers have accomplished such an feat – most recently Becky McDonough in El Toro Loco and Diesel Dave in BroDozer both achieved this impressive feat during a freestyle run in Jacksonville, FL.

Freestyle

Monster Jam’s freestyle aspect gives drivers the chance to ram cars, busses and vans as quickly as possible into each other or other obstacles in a short amount of time. Fans can watch trucks perform wheelies and donuts not normally seen during racing competition.

At the World Finals, both racing and freestyle competitions take place over two days. A truck that wins both events becomes world champion – historically, it has often been Grave Digger who triumphs at racing while Max-D prevails in freestyle.

Players in this video game can select from 20 real-life monster trucks, but its controls and trucks feel unresponsive – creating an experience not for the faint of heart.

Venues

While fans scream and cheer, hundreds of employees work to ensure the drivers’ safety. They arrange each driver’s entry into one of 47 hot pits that house trucks for racing, attend to any broken trucks on- or off-track, and ensure everything runs smoothly [source: Feld]. [source: Feld].

Fans also join in the action with merchandise ranging from plush toys and 24-volt ride-on trucks, as well as video games featuring Monster Jam characters. The company makes money licensing its name on clothes, electronics and even virtual shows – evolving continually with electric trucks and virtual shows being introduced over time.

International expansion also helps, as its demographics of fans become more diverse. Furthermore, as this sport combines endurance and strength training into one mental sport that women can compete equally on equal terms with men – indeed one of the truck drivers (as of 2024) was female!

Matt Rife – The Hottest Up and Coming Comedian on TikTok

Matt Rife burst onto the scene this year with viral comedy clips on TikTok and his debut Netflix special, Natural Selection. Additionally, he has collaborated with other comedians such as DL Hughley and Ralphie May during tours across North America.

His audience is predominantly women, so it was unexpected for him to open his special with a domestic abuse joke. While some have called for boycotting of Mizejewski’s comedy act in response, Mizejewski believes such measures would only serve to inhibit it further.

Matt Rife is an American stand-up comedian

Matt Rife has caused quite a stir with his Netflix special Natural Selection. Many consider his jokes regressive and include references to domestic violence and sexuality. Rife first rose to fame through TikTok where he posted routines featuring crowd work – the style whereby comedians interact directly with their audiences.

Drew Afualo, an active TikToker who specializes in responding to misogynistic men online, quickly responded to Rife’s remarks by noting it’s common for white, heterosexual comics to use misogyny in their work; she expressed surprise, however, by his explicit stance of alienating his female audience in favor of male audiences.

Critics noted Rife’s regressive humor often targets vulnerable groups. Critics asked whether it is acceptable for comedians to make jokes that demean or belittle women; Linda Mizejewski of Ohio State’s Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Department as well as Hayden Moncada of Buckeye Standup Comedy Club both participated in the discussion.

He was born in Ohio

Rife is one of the hottest up-and-coming comedians on the scene. Beginning performing stand-up at age 15, he has since performed across the globe; becoming the youngest ever comedian to perform at Hollywood Bowl and earning one of Netflix’s highest viewed comedy specials with his Netflix special debut.

His distinctive brand of humor and natural charisma have won over audiences nationwide, appearing on popular shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Fresh Off the Boat as well as hosting TRL on MTV and competing on Bring the Funny on NBC.

Matt is an authentic and genuine individual who has struggled with mental health issues, openly discussing them with his mother April and stepfather Steven for support and using humor as a form of healing himself. Additionally, Matt advocates on behalf of LGBTQ community.

He has a sister named Taylor Chilton

Matt Rife has become an unparalleled cultural phenomenon since becoming a TikTok comedian with predominantly female audiences. Starting off from couch surfing and bus hopping to selling out theaters worldwide.

However, his debut Netflix special Natural Selection has drawn widespread ire. Audience members were disappointed in its bland jokes about women in the kitchen or their biological clocks; some found the opening joke about domestic violence particularly offensive.

No matter its fairness or not, one thing is evident: Rife’s fan base largely consists of female followers. Thus it’s especially important that he does not offend them. Linda Mizejewski of Ohio State’s Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies department as well as Hayden Moncada of Buckeye Standup Comedy Club both expressed their opinions regarding this controversy, emphasizing how crucial it is for comedians to value their audiences; otherwise they risk misinterpreting or being misunderstood and never achieve recognition or respect from fans or audiences alike.

He has a step-brother named Christian Sievers

Rife has gained immense fame on TikTok for his crowd work routines, appearing on various television programs as well. Now he is creating his own workplace sitcom series for Netflix.

Rife’s humor can often provoke outrage online and has recently come under scrutiny after making an offending domestic violence joke in his new Netflix special, Natural Selection. His target audience, female audiences are his bread-and-butter. This joke caused much backlash as it targeted female audience that has made up much of his career success.

Within three minutes of his special, which consisted of him speaking directly to an audience in Washington D.C, Rife made a joke comparing Washington with Baltimore as “ratchet,” prompting an audible gasp from viewers and drawing an apology from Rife later but it had already caused significant harm to Washington audiences.

Lyrically speaking, Feels Like Home describes toes dipping in water and old pine floors – you can almost smell them.

Norah Jones launched her own podcast in 2022 featuring candid conversations and impromptu musical collaborations between herself and some of her favorite musicians. We watched an episode where Norah performed one song for us!

Now with Visions as her ninth record and first non-Christmas release since four years (co-produced by Leon Michels who worked closely with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings before she passed), Visions offers up an engaging mix of country Americana Americana modern jazz as well as indie pop/rock.

Fans ate up his tributes to genres like rhythm and blues and doo-wop. Additionally, he explored some of his first serious-minded albums such as Glass Houses and The Nylon Curtain.

Sting’s performance that evening included influences of reggae, jazz and world music with fan favorites like “King of Pain”, “Roxanne” and “Fields of Gold”. Additionally, he brought new life into classic tunes – stretching out some – like “Walking on the Moon” for 12 minutes without ever overdoing it.

Joel paid his own tribute to New York City with vibrant city portraits that included video footage of Brooklyn Bridge footage during “Uptown Girl.” To cap it all off, Joel performed “Big Man On Mulberry Street,” featuring Sting in a Sinatra-style suit and hat for an intimate duet performance with Joel.

2. Big Man On Mulberry Street

As soon as the crowd at Petco Park heard the opening notes of “Big Man on Mulberry Street,” it became evident they were ready to dance. A screen displayed photos of Brooklyn Bridge during “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song)”, while the Statue of Liberty rose up during a triumphant rendition of “New York State of Mind.”

Sting gave fan favorites such as “Message in a Bottle,” “King of Pain,” “Fields of Gold” and “Englishman in New York” new energy, blending reggae, jazz and world influences into his performances. While his vocals may have seemed off during “Spirits in the Material World”, his piano playing more than made up for any discrepancies; even inviting out an accompanying drummer for an uptempo jazz duet performance on “Big Man.” (Watch it here.)

3. The Lion Sleeps Tonight

At 74 years old, Joel may not be as iconic a presence anymore; yet his fans continue to show up to hear him perform his hits at stadium shows despite taking over two hours for every song to perform in succession.

Last night (March 28), at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium, Sting joined him onstage for duets that brought plenty of Empire State pride to a sold-out audience. A screen flashed images of Brooklyn Bridge during “New York State of Mind”.

People watching the concert on CBS were dismayed to see it preempted for 30 minutes to broadcast the 2024 Masters Tournament and cut off mid-“Piano Man.” Unfortunately, it was an incredible performance!

4. Walk On The Moon

Billy Joel and Sting collaborated on two duets at their co-headlining gig at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa last month, with Billy bringing out one of his band members for “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” followed by Sting returning later during Joel’s set to join in singing “Englishman In New York”.

Sting seamlessly blended the sounds of reggae, rock and world music to deliver powerful performances of fan favorites that were cheered along by enthusiastic applause from his audience.

At first, a screen showed images of Brooklyn Bridge during “Fields of Gold.” When he started spinning around to sing “New York State of Mind”, images of Lady Liberty appeared. This gesture paid a fitting homage to where he is from while also showing that this legendary singer can still command such an expansive arena.

5. Message In A Bottle

Joel wasn’t kidding when he sang: “It’s a pretty good crowd for a Saturday.” Petco Park was packed to capacity as fans adorned in colorful light-up ponchos sang along to classic hits such as “Roxanne,” “Englishman In New York,” and the newly released single, “Turn the Lights Back On.”

Sting brought his career-spanning show to Raymond James Stadium for a sold-out audience and delivered songs that still conveyed hope and meaning despite not reaching their former levels of performance.

At one point during his set, Sting and Joel joined forces again to perform “Big Man on Mulberry Street,” as seen below in fan-captured footage. This marked one of many collaborations that will occur during their joint tour; five-time Olivier Award nominee Kate Prince’s new dance-theater show called “Message In A Bottle,” inspired by and set to the iconic hits of Kennedy Center Honoree and 17-time Grammy Winner Sting is available for streaming now on Spotify and Apple Music.
